1. How can scientists tell the age of a tree by looking at the rings? Explain what that means. By looking at how many rings it has.






2. How/why would this be useful? It's useful cause you can tell how old a tree is when it is cut down or if it falls.

Blog Post #2-Destruction

I think an earthquake is more destructive because it can cause damgage immediatly unlike volcanoes. An earthquake can shake a house down or maybe a city. It can even kill people. Volcanoes don't do too much because sometimes the lava pours out slowly and it makes getting easier. It's not something that could happen instantly like an earhtquake.

1. Identify the two main types of igneous rocks-Obsidian is a dark-colored volcanic glass that forms from the very rapid cooling of molten rock.

Diorite is a intrusive igneous rock that contains a mixture of feldspar, pyroxene, hornblende and sometimes quartz.

2. Identify the two main types of metamorphic rocks-Phyllite is a foliate metamorphic rock that is made up mainly of grained mica
Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock that is produced from the metamorphism of limestone



3. Identify the two main types of sedimentary rocks. Coal is a sedimentary rock that forms from plant debris

Rock Salt is a chemical sedimentary rock that forms from the evaporation of ocean or saline lake water

There are four main sciences in Earth Science: Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology, and Astronomy. Which one sounds the most interesting to you? Why? Include at least one picture. I would like to study Astonomy because I like to study stars and the constellations.
